Road Captains, Keeping JaxHOG Safe on the Road!

Hello, my name is Manya M., I am the JAXHOG Head Road Captain. As Head Road Captain, my role is to do my best to ensure our Road Captains have the information and support from the Chapter to be the best Road Captains that they can.

JAXHOG Road Captains are trained to perform both Road Captain (RC) and Tail Gunner (TG) roles for our rides and are expected to perform both roles on a minimum number of different rides each year. What does a Road Captain and Tail Gunner do? 

Their primary responsibilities are:

1. RC must plan a safe ride that will assure the riding safety of all ride participants.
2. RC and TG must perform a pre-ride test of each route to review the route and the RC must adjust the ride plan for any potential safety conditions to assure the riding safety of all ride participants.
3. RC must brief participants before the ride assuring all riders understand riding rules and safety protocols to assure the riding safety of all ride participants.
4. RC and TG must conduct the ride in a manner that assures the riding safety of all ride participants.
5. RC and TG must prepare for contingencies and emergencies through training and planning. 
6. Should an emergency occur, TG will handle the emergency directly while the RC remains responsible for the other riders and the overall situation. 
7. RC and TG will have fun and do their best to conduct the ride to assure the fun and enjoyment of all ride participants.
